Strawberry season is in full swing here in Morocco ...the juiciest, glistening berries are grown here and taste truly and deeply wonderful. They are not around all year like in Australia and this is a huge factor in their heavenliness I am sure. Over the years in Melbourne I have often bitten into a whopping lovely looking red strawb and been filled with abject disappointment when I tasted the watery flesh of fruit that has been flown across many states for hours and sat in a cool store for endless days if not weeks being ‘forced’. That just doesn’t happen in Morocco . The season has a beginning and an end and then you wait a year. So it’s non stop berry eating for me now while I can !
