Mr Wikipedia says a fountain is an ornamental structure from which jets of water are pumped into the air . Well the magnificent granite Bernini Fountain in St Peters Square is incredibly true to the definition plus is an amazing backdrop for photos. This glorious fountain was completed in 1677 and was built as a replica to match the other fountain in the vast square. It spouted six million litres from the jets per day, luckily now recycling is in place. Bernini is considered to have been the great master of Baroque Rome and his fountains including this one in the Vatican City were inspirational, architectural gifts.
Gorgeous!
