For the first time ever, new sculptures are being installed (just for four months) across the ancient historic sites in Rome. The 43 equine statues, some 12 meters high, are part of an incredible travelling exhibition with more horses being added in each city with the final total being 100 . The artist creating theses giant but broken horses is Gustavo Aceves, a Mexican. He started this project eight years ago. They are representative of the suffering of the migrating refugees fleeing to Europe and some are mounted on fragments of boats. Wood, bronze, granite, marble and iron are the materials that have been used for theses stunning equine creations. After January they will gallop on to Corinth, Paris, Venice and Istanbul.
How interesting. We may have to take a trip up to Paris to see them.
