Most people know that I have a bit of a "thing" for the vintage and shabby chic look. I have spent many hours of my life sifting through thrift shops or op shops as they are known in Australia. I feel comfortable among things that have an old worn feel and are preloved {oh no, sounds like I am describing myself }. They have their own story that they bring with them. Five days ago I moved from a furnished apartment here in Marrakech to an unfurnished one. It was totally empty and remains nearly thus. There is not even an oven or cook top. I have bought two mattresses , a fridge, a washing machine and a TV. But I am a happy camper as yesterday saw the arrival of two bedside tables. The solid, wooden recycled vegetable boxes were delivered for free to the door by my Moroccan green grocer. They can be left as is and look shabby chic, they can be painted and sanded back to look vintage or they can be draped in a beautiful scarf to look Moroccan. But before any of this takes place I need an oven. I don't feel myself if I can't bake !!
