Balak Balak !!!

These are the first Moroccan words I learnt nearly two years ago on the very first day of my inaugural trip here. I was in Fes and these words are very important there. The translation means Get Out of the Way and Fast !! It means that any second now if you do not move either to the left or right of the narrow cobbled alley a laden mule or donkey or barrow will run you down. Truly. The medina functions at a frenetic pace most of the time and so the meandering tourist is in danger of becoming a speed hump if you do not stay alert for these shouted words ! I love the soft eyed mules and tawny donkeys but it is hard to get pictures as they pass by fast and it is also uppermost in my mind to respect the Moroccan people as they prefer not to be photographed. So luckily I found these two sweeties tethered and waiting patiently.
