For me, The Rose by Bette Midler is the most poignant love song ever and one that can bring tears to my eyes. When I saw this masterpiece of colour in the market in Madrid that song came straight to mind as did the flamboyant Divine Miss M. What a gorgeous find, such a surprise. Someone very clever is dyeing each petal to give the rainbow effect. The stem of the rose is split and each part is dipped into a different coloured water which is then drawn up the stem , a normal process, and into the petal. An unscented cream colored rose is used and the end result has all seven [or nearly] colours of the rainbow represented. Talk about gilding the lily !!
Amazing!
