This is Australia's National floral emblem and not for one second did I ever expect to see bunches of it for sale at the flower market in Marrakech. It grows in Morocco, up around Tangier. It is called mimosa, not wattle , in this part of the world. The lovely flower man gave me a bunch when he discovered I was Australian - or maybe because it was Valentines Day !!
I don't think I've ever heard of wattle, and I've definitely never seen it. Do you know why it was chosen as Australia's floral emblem? I would expect it to be something more colourful and showy :-)
