This is St Pauls Anglican Cathedral and it sits on the highest point in London, Ludgate Hill. It is imposing and beautiful both day and night. It is a construction from the late seventeenth century by the very famous Christopher Wren . Princes Charles and Lady Diana were married here.
I was lucky enough recently to sit at a window table at the Tate Gallery restaurant in London and this was my wonderful view across the river. After a delicious dinner we crossed the bridge and passed by the cathedral as we headed for the tube.
This is a working church, not just for show with has regular daily services. If you just wish to have a wander through then there is actually a pretty steep entrance fee of 17 pounds . That is a lot to put into the collection plate but the costs of maintaining such an architectural masterpiece would be exorbitant.
I love old architecture :-) You really have to wonder how these buildings were built hundreds of years ago with no modern tools and conveniences!
