About 9 acres are part and parcel of Jnane Tamsna and have all been planted out from scratch by green thumb owner Gary Martin. The guest house is located in Palmeraie, an oasis like district on the outskirts of the city of Marrakech. Palmerie is noted for, of course, the masses, some 150,000 in fact, of palm trees that you will find here. Many luxury hotels and very high end resorts are also found in this area. Gary has specifically planted out much of the acreage with plants that do not require watering and he has no lawns to either water or mow.
He does have beds full of herbs and vegetables that go straight into the kitchen and on to the dinner plates. You will also find their own delicious home pressed olive oil served with artisan breads.
We gathered jonquils and then picked enormous navel oranges straight from the trees. Imagine a garden where you can do both these things on a given day. Such a lush paradise !!
For me, yet a further a highlight of my day was meeting and patting Diva. She is very much part of the hotel and is a 7 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback who came from Paris with some litter buddies as a puppy.
Everything about Jnane Tamsna looks amazing, but my favourite is Diva! Such a pretty girl :-) When I had a horse, the owners of the stable where I boarded her had a Rhodesian Ridgeback - I can't remember if it was her or their Aussie Cattle Dog whose name was Diva too!
