I, sadly, ate at none of these London pubs but their menus certainly caught my eye and I am sure their offerings were delicious. British pub food is like no other and Jamie Oliver has certainly put it on todays culinary map. But I had an English father and was exposed to this type of eating from an early age
Given the chance, I would have dived right into that Sausage Board and there may have been no sharing. And that gourmet Real Ale sausage surely was a far cry from the those pasty pink finger like sausages always seen sizzling outside Bunnings.
Imagine seeing good old corned beef or salt beef in a bagel - great fusion there !! Often corned beef was Sunday lunch when I was a child though I was never a big fan !! My mother put some type of gluggy mustard sauce with it. But we had to eat it if we wanted pudding and they too were of British descent like steamed jam roly poly or lemon meringue pie. You can tell exactly where my love of comfort food has come from - a gene pool directly from England.
