Last week I spent four lovely nights in this hotel in Bayswater, London. It is a couple of blocks from Hyde Park and an easy walk to Portobello Rd and Notting Hill. In fact it is an easy walk to much of London or to a tube station that will take you further afield. I even walked to Harrods in Knightsbridge. This hotel was immaculate, warm and snug and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The rooms are all small but perfectly formed. The street is mainly residential so there is no night noise whatsoever. The pillow was comfortable, the doona soft and the shower marvellous. You can see I was very happy with my choice of accommodation. Except I didn't choose it, it chose me.
Often when I want good accommodation but don't want to pay a five star price I go to Hotwire and choose my dates, city and area of choice. They offer a secret hotel deal where you pay up front a discounted rate and then the name of the hotel is revealed. I have done this now several times and never ever experienced disappointment. Come what may, I highly recommend this London hotel and try the Hotwire option if you like surprises.
Thanks for the Hotwire tip, Kate. Sounds handy and have noted it.

I don't know if I'm brave enough to try Hotwire! I like to do a lot of research on the places I'm considering staying. So far that's worked out well for me, but maybe one day if I'm feeling adventurous, I'll give Hotwire a try :-) The Caesar looks and sounds like a nice hotel :-)
I had no idea what a doona was the first time I heard the word - which happened to be on The Block!
