My dogs are both family members and best friends and it will certainly break my heart to say goodbye to them in 3 weeks time. So much of my day revolves around them and no one could ask for better companions. No matter if I am happy or sad they remain constantly by my side, wagging their tails and grinning their doggie grins. Lucy will turn 15 in 4 weeks and as to be expected, she is looking grizzled and more fragile by the week. Of course I must face facts that she may not be around when I return and this is pretty heart wrenching to deal with.
We had to leave 2 behind when we left the US - it was very hard..... But they had happy homes and new toys. Sigh.....Still....

Oh Kate, I know how hard it will be to say good-bye to your furkids :-( I miss mine so much when we only go away for a week, I don't know if I could leave them for much longer than that! But I'm sure Lucy and the Cocopop will be well cared for while you're gone, and hopefully Lucy will be there to greet you with sloppy wet doggie kisses when you go back home :-)

Aww I know it's hard. I skyped with Smokey from Mongolia -- he was so happy to "see" me. He kept looking behind my friend's phone though thinking I was there :-(
