I did all the right things before going to Morocco. I took my mobile to the Telstra office so it was done properly - data turned off, mobile roaming on etc. Well today I got a bill for $665.00 !! Horror of horrors !! In the column marked "Calls Received Overseas" were 30 calls from Moroccan phone numbers, some taking place before my plane had even landed and some after I had flown home. Some were only 9 seconds long, the biggest was a whopping 41 minutes. After pressing endless buttons and talking to call centres around the world I got a credit for the calls made when I was not yet in the country but it seems I am responsible for the others though I know only one person in Morocco and cannot speak Arabic. PLEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ !!!
Ouch! I've never heard of that happening. I live such a sheltered life....

I need to speak to my boss about a similar problem --- and we have had it before --- and as you say, in the end we are not liable for ALL the calls, but certainly for a significant number of them!!

That's insane! But at least you don't have to pay for the calls that you didn't make when you weren't there... So silly!

I would fight it a little more. Had that happen with Andrew when he went to Germany and Riley in Bahamas. We were able to at least reduce by half.

Somehow within a matter of weeks we have covered both ends of the international phone malfunction spectrum - yours which worked far too well and mine which did not work at all!
