We take holidays to escape routine only to re establish them it seems, albeit in a different place and at a different pace. We take breakfast late then walk to find coffee or visit the spa or go back to bed. Some of us lunch, some don't. The afternoon activities resemble those of the morning plus we discuss our endless dinner options. Before dinner yesterday we went to Petulu, a white heron sanctuary. It is off the tourist trail and so great to go at sunset when masses of these big birds fly into roost overnight in wonderful old trees after spending their days in the rice paddies foraging for various insects.
Today we took a hike up to a ridge with views of paddies and farms, all so lush and green.
Wow! The herons must be quite a sight. I sometimes see a blue heron in the lake at our cottage, and he's pretty impressive looking all by himself!
