I knew I had a cherry tree and when I first moved in to this house 18 months ago, my gardener friend said it was very sick and to chop it down. Well, I didn't and it has stayed alive and it even had some half hearted blossom in spring. And now we are in the full throes of summer it has borne lustrous fruit - nectarines not cherries. I had no idea as this did not happen last year. I suppose it has yielded 2 big fruit bowls full. I have picked them while still very firm as the birds and possums and even dogs have shown great interest in them and had their fair share.
I have been enjoying them fresh immensely and even poached some. They cut in half perfectly and the stone comes away easily. I adore nectarines both yellow and white and now to have this tree in my garden bearing my favourite fruit is just amazing. Thankfully I did not cut this "cherry" tree down and now I have great reason to nurse it back to full health.
So lucky you didn't cut it down! One of your/my zucchini plants has been chopped off at ground level by a predator unknown, but the other one is thriving!
