I had not heard of Sev till last weekend when I was reading a recipe magazine from the library. It is a product of India and can be plain or spicy. My sister got me a bag to try from an Indian supermarket and I am addicted. The spicy one can adorn salads or be a nibble with a cocktail. The plain one can even go into a dessert apparently. Basically, sev is crunchy deep fried chickpea noodles and a very common Indian snack. {Think Changs noodles but spicy}.
I cannot believe I have not come across sev before and if you don't all run out and try it you are truly missing something fabulous. The deep fried bit has blown my "healthy green salad every night summer diet" out of the water as I have sprinkled it over the top and er, sprinkled liberally.
I'm starting to think that chick peas are some sort of magical food - they taste great in all different forms! I'm totally addicted to chocolate chip peanut butter cookies made with chick peas, and I just had rice crackers & hummus for my snack :-)
I've never seen Sev before, but then I'd never heard of it till now and didn't know to look for it ;-)
