Last night I cleared dishes and glasses from the bench and emptied the glasses into the sink. But one of those glasses held clear cleaning fluid with an antique ring and diamond studs soaking in it. OOPS !! Down the drain they went !! I had to call a friend to cross town and undo the S bend or whatever the thingy is under the sink. The murky brown water did hold all the precious items bar one earring back. How thankful I felt. This is not the first time there has been a near miss with jewellery cleaning in this house. Last time I took a sip of the cleaning fluid thinking I was having a glass of refreshing water !! It was disgusting so luckily it was only a small sip !!
What an awful feeling it must have been when you realized you poured your jewelry down the drain! So happy you were able to retrieve most of it. I use a jewelry cleaner that comes in a little jar - you submerge your jewelry pieces into the jar, and then use the handy little basket inside the jar to take them out. Unlikely that you would pick up the jar and pour the cleaning liquid down the drain, or pick up the jar and drink from it!

Louise and her Mum, and hence Remy swear by a sonic-wave (I think) jewellery cleaner they got at Aldi! No liquid required...

Oh no, so you're still down a diamond stud? What a bummer. I avoid all risk of anything like this happening by being far too lazy to clean my jewellery. Every now and again I give it a bit of a scrub with an old toothbrush - but usually when I've noticed that things are looking very grotty indeed.
