Baby daughter21 was making her first foray into London since being in the UK over the weekend. We were on skype as she shut her suitcase, dried her hair and ventured off. She took a taxi then flew the 50 minutes from Newquay to Heatthrow then took a train to Victoria station. Then I get a text !
Her - Today would be the day they have cancelled all the trains to Paddington
Me - take a bus or taxi
Her - double decker ?
Now, I have always told my children that mothers know everything but here I began to falter and be filled with self doubt. It is many years since I have been to London and my knowledge of their public transport system leaves an incredible lot to be desired so for once I was at a loss for words and had no answer at all. I was really floundering. Luckily that resourceful, intrepid, little traveller managed to get herself to her friend's hotel and sent a text letting me know. Just in the nick of time too before I started accessing London transport timetables via the net and becoming her personal sat/nav !!!!!!
That makes me very happy!

She did have her camera as when she left a little cat sat next to her luggage as she waited for the taxi and she took photos for her blog.

Hope she's got her camera with her! (that's the sort of mother I am!)

...and thus, she slipped the mother-woven, silken-lined, silver-spooned cocoon!
