I enjoyed a strong, skinny capuccino while waiting for my sister and then, when she arrived to meet me at the Monarch cafe, we ordered our cakes. This cafe is an institution in St Kilda and has a window full of delectable European style tortes and gateaux. I ordered the house speciality, chocolate kugelhopf, served warm and oozing, and loved every single mouthful and could even have greedily eaten a second ! My sister ordered their famous baked cheesecake made from ricotta. After our gorgeous afternoon tea we went off to meet our fellow companions for our photowalk. I warmed up my camera in the cafe.
Come over, Ill take you !!

We used to always make time for a Sunday trip down Ackland St on our visits to Melbourne. It was always such exquisite agony trying to decide what to pick! Sadly, it is just a shadow of what it used to be. I think the death knell was sounded when a "Bakers Delight" moved in.
