Once more into the breach I went, facing the passport lady again, with great trepidation. Again the thing in its entirety was rejected out of hand !! The father of the patient had filled his bit out in blue and they only like black ink it seems in the hallowed passport office. The photo that was actually acceptable last time was this time deemed a total disaster and needs to be replaced asap. The lady this time was pleasant though curt and I was summarily dismissed with with an appointment card in hand to return next week. I doubt I will sleep a wink till this wretched appointment is over and done with, such is my angst. This whole passport business, I think, is just a test to determine how badly we want an overseas holiday. Is it designed to push us to the brink [or drink !!] and make us give up our yearning for adventures in foreign climes ? Is it designed to get us to spend our hard earned tourist dollars holidaying in our homeland ? Well, for me, after this passport fiasco, armchair travel is looking like a mighty fine and
desirable option, price is right too, what's more no paperwork is required !!
Should I take brownies just in case ??

Next week's appointment will be recorded forever in your "week in the life"! I can't stand dealing with any form of officialdom but at least we don't generally have to offer them bribes here (just trying to think on the bright side)

Was there a headscarf worn in the photo?

This is a farce. You're going to get a free holiday on 'Christmas Island' at this rate...
