Yesterday I had to attend an appointment to apply for a new passport for the patient prior to a little trip we intend to take together in June. I turned up at the appointed time, queued endlessly and finally got to the counter. The woman who served me was bitter and twisted about something and her vitriol was unleashed upon me and my application form. Every facet of the form was apparently wrong and she lectured me re this in no uncertain terms. The final straw for me was when she complained that the print on my birth certificate was too faint - something I have truly little or no control over !!!! I am reasonably nice on the whole but this was the moment when I decided to launch a little of my own vitriol back. I pointed out that the document had been printed by a government body 52 years ago and this may well be the reason that the writing was faint and that she should be glad I was not 90 as the writing may well have disappeared. The woman's customer service skills did not improve and I left in high dudgeon. Now we face re doing the forms and once more into the breach I will have to go hoping like crazy that that I do not encounter the same clerk and if I do that she has taken her valium.
I hope we'll see pictures of your trip on your blog.
My worst passport experience was when I realized our daughter's passport was out-of-date two days before the trip. I spent the next day at the passport office in San Francisco but all was eventually well.

I think you should send a written complaint about her attitude.

That woman should not be working in customer service.
