When I see my daughters - in this case, the patient - and friends dressed up for parties it is a stark reminder of long, lost youth. These girls have glossy hair, illuminous skin and expensive, white smiles. They exude the joie de vivre that comes from drinking at the fountain of youth. It makes me feel a little old and jaded, I must admit, as I fight the daily battle of greying hair, senior moments, receeding gums, sun spots, crows feet and a whole plethora of other vastly unattractive and unromantic issues best not mentioned in a public forum for fear of clearing the whole of cyber space. I can just hear the sound of cyber "eeuuwwhhs" faintly but here is where I am grateful for any age related hearing loss. Some days I struggle briefly to find any pluses in being 50 something but yes there is a plus and that is knowing and enjoying the fact that I have made it thus far mostly healthily and happily, For me, the saying
'age doesn't matter unless you are a cheese or a wine' is a timely one.
What an extraordinary compliment - can she set up an interview ?????

Hope you're still accepting comments on this one - my friend Sarita says Amy has such beautiful eyes that she could make it in Bollywood!

You are still young and have a lot to live for, and a lot to enjoy! :)
