I have sadly harvested my last tomatoes, snipped the last spinach leaves and snapped off the the last zucchini for this summer. I tossed them in a bowl with a little chicken, added some dressing and raised my glass to the end of this years bounty. It has been such a learning curve but what a rewarding one. New skills learned and food on the plate in one hit !!! Now my research shall begin on what to do next - I am sure it will involve some type of soil preparation - never done that before - and then the best bit will be selecting seedlings and hoping and praying for edible results over winter.
Heres is a cute little video http://www.melbournefoodandwine.com.au/the-edible-garden/welcome
about growing beans - apparently they condition the soil automatically

Isn't it amazing (and sad!) how the growing season comes to such a sudden screaming halt. All of a sudden it is too chilly for the plants to thrive, even though we still feel quite warm...
