Look at this pie - no blackbirds were harmed in the making !! But what a dainty dish !!

That particular nursery rhyme used to always upset me - I just couldn't understand who would put blackbirds or any birds in a pie - eeuuuhhhh!!! I like ornamental birds but not real ones and I certainly hate holding them - I hate feeling that fragile little skeleton. Any way about this pie - how luscious does it look, how warming and rustic !! And it was made by a man from scratch and no recipe was involved either or songbirds of any sort.
