Yesterday I spent with my sister. We were troubleshooting ! I am technically inept and starting this blog has been challenging. My sister is way ahead in this area and helped me greatly. We spent ages trialling out Typepad stuff both with and without error. Our reward was a coffee granita each with cream on top. They melted quickly as it was high in the 30's Centigrade but were delicious. I am thankful that there is some distance and a huge amount of traffic between my sister and I as she lives close by Brunettis where these and a trillion other delectable delights lie in wait for coffee and sugar desperadoes like me.

Look at the Success I Had with My Crockpot Rhubarb
All rhubarb lovers must try this - it slow cooks for 5 - 6 hours and the ginger just makes it so wonderful - please try it !!

This is her favourite restaurant - sushi of course . But news from Japan is that she has resigned from her job and has a new one in Cornwall, England. I can't wait for the photos from that idyllic spot !! So watch this space.

Look at this wild sea !!
This is not what one envisions when we think of Japan is it ? Cherry blossoms, kimonos and sushi are more what comes to mind. But this is the wild, winter Japanese coastline, seen today by the snow bunny on her day off. Apparently this beach is popular with surfers though surely not at this time of year. To me it looks like it would be popular with polar bears and not much else.
Look - what a bounty of berries !!
These were $1.00 a punnet - what a delicious bargain !! Sometimes I get lucky and yesterday I did . I actually cooked these as I love hot strawberries. Unusual I know !! I cook them till the juice runs but they still hold their shape. I do this in the microwave and it does not take long at all. Please try it, you may be converted.

Look at my herbs growing so well, right at the back door too.
I have got lots of herbs in pots at the moment, This is a first for me. I used to buy them fresh, now I pick them fresh. Quite a money saver, too. And I use them in everything . It is quite a wonderful feeling to whip out with my scissors and be able to snip a whole lot of mixed herbs straight into my saucepan . And now I can create little bunches of herbs , tied with a pretty ribbon, if I need a gift in a hurry.

Look at these Colours !!
Summer fruits are one of the reasons I long for summer when we are in the depths of winter. I always buy a small amount of cherries the minute they appear, at an astonomical price, in the first week of November. After that all I can think about is soft fruit, especially nectarines, and I then start counting the days till I spy them in all their rosy colours. When I can I buy up big and then poach or stew - not a romantic word - and freeze batches to cheer me up in mid winter.
