Yesterday I got a tip off from a young friend of mine who is in her third year at opera school. They were to do a flash mob opera style at the GPO in Melbourne last night. The GPO is a huge and very old building that used to be our General Post Office but now is a shopping centre full of designer shops. We headed in by train and wandered around and suddnely the place was alive with opera.
The two gentlemen you see in blue shirts in centre if pic were the two lead singers. It all looks so unsuspecting, doesn't it. Those men just look as if they are heading off to order coffee but in actuality they are the most brilliant opera singers and I felt privileged to hear them.
Smells divine, grows in a bush about a metre wide and high with small cream blossoms - please help me if you can identify it. I thought is was a relative of honeysuckle but it is not a vine and the branch is too woody.
I never have cut flowers in the house. I never buy flowers and rarely pick them out of my garden. I love flowers and flower markets and florists though. And yes they brighten a room and can look so divine and make the most gorgeous gift but central heating or summer heat make them wilt fast and then I feel so sad that they just get tossed into the compost. I feel the same way about live Christmas trees when I see then all brown out on the nature strip. I love to see flowers growing but am happy to leave them adorning my garden for me to enjoy when I am outside. I know others will see this as an odd attitude. My mother is the opposite to me and always has cut flowers and these gerberas did look amazing. What a colour, they really just exude Happy Easter.
This is the musical that daughter18 has been in. The show was brilliant and the final show was last night. I was lucky enough to go twice and loved every single second. Daughter18 had the role of Kendra. This is an all singing/all dancing type of musical and was the best fun for both performers and the audience. The lyrics are clever and some quite hysterical. As it was the final performance last night the cast was just on fire as was the audience. It was just so much fun to be there !! Champagne at interval was fun too !
