We had our final morning in Salzburg and spent it very wisely indeed. We locked up our luggage at the station and took ourselves to cake and coffee at the historical Hotel Sacher. We entered the genteel cafe, full of dark wood and pink upholstery and serving the very famous Sacher Torte. This cake has a closely guarded secret recipe with no less than 36 steps to be followed to ensure perfection. Well, perfection it certainly was though very rich and I took a long time savoring every morsel and enjoying 2 cups of fabulous coffee alongside it.
