Fresh chapatis being made for a rooftop picnic - for 17 people - family, friends and neighbours celebrating the kite festival. People in this area spend lots of time up on the roof. You can also see the small pressure cooker, which is typical in an Indian home kitchen.
The picnic, which was prepared by 3 young sisters and their best friend, being served:
We had those delicious fresh chapatis with Maharashtran-style vegetables and fresh chutneys. After lunch it was back to kite flying and dancing to Bollywood tunes, with everyone on neighbouring rooftops doing the same.
The kite festival sounds like fun - must look amazing with all the kites flying together :-) And Chapatis.... mmmmm! I love anything bread!
